Getting Ready For Camp

Listed are items that are essential for Camp OTX. In choosing your camper’s clothing, keep in mind that because he or she will be involved in energetic activities daily, comfort and freedom of movement are most important. Laundry service is available on an as-needed basis for all 14 day campers. Campers are advised to bring a 14 day supply of clothing for all 14 day sessions and an 8–day supply of clothing for all 7-day sessions.

Getting to Camp

Bandera, TX

Camp OTX is located 12 miles southwest of Bandera, Texas (60 miles west of San Antonio, TX) in the scenic Texas Hill Country.

Transportation to Camp OTX is available by private automobile, chartered bus from several prominent cities, or commercial airline via San Antonio where campers are met by camp shuttle and transported to Camp OTX.

While our staffed charter buses and commercial airline offer convenient transportation options, families may choose to arrive/depart camp via private automobile. Our Opening and Closing Day logistics are designed to make the parents and campers experience as smooth and efficient as possible. Luggage service is provided to all families arriving to camp and departing from camp via private automobile.

With 260 flight departures each day, the San Antonio International airport provides non-stop jet service to 27 national/international gateway cities. Many campers arrive from around the country and from international departure points. Parents may book flights in conjunction with Camp OTX's pick- up and drop-off windows. Upon arrival, all campers are greeted by Camp OTX Staff and escorted to our camp shuttle for transport to Camp OTX. For more information on these options, login to My OTX.

BANDERA, SAN ANTONIO, AND SURROUNDING AREAS

Camp OTX is nestled in and amongst the rolling hills of the scenic Texas Hill Country, just 12 miles southwest of Bandera, Texas, and 60 miles northwest of downtown San Antonio, Texas. Because of the incredible views and endless activities available to Texas Hill Country vacationers, you will find hotels, bed & breakfast boutiques, guest ranches, resorts & spas, as well as luxurious hotels on the River Walk in the heart of San Antonio. The list below represents a sampling of places to choose from that are located within a 75 minute drive to Camp OTX. We recommend and encourage you to use your favorite online travel guide to research lodging accommodations throughout the surrounding area (Bandera, Boerne, Kerrville, and San Antonio) to help you select a place that best matches your interests, needs, and expectations.
