We are excited to see you at Camp OTX! In order to help reduce time spent waiting in vehicles, please arrive at camp within your designated arrival window. Arriving outside of your arrival window impedes traffic flow and causes delays. Arrival windows have been sent to you via text and email, and can also be found on your camper’s Travel Itinerary on your My OTX dashboard.
On Opening Day, you will enter the Camp OTX front gates, drive by the OTX Barn and Equestrian Center, Shooting Sports, Frio Frenzy Waterslides, and our Skypark to arrive in the center of Camp OTX at the flag pole. Parents and campers are required to remain in their cars during this portion of the check-in process.
Please arrive with parents/guardians sitting in the front seat and campers in the back seat. At check-in, campers will receive a brief health screening, a name tag, and their cabin number!
Once check-in is complete, our Opening Day Parade through Cabin Row will begin around 1p. Families will drive through Cabin Row and be directed by staff to the appropriate unloading area at the Catamount Cabins (lower deck) or the Creekside Cabins (upper deck). Camp OTX staff will greet your camper and direct you to your cabin. Family members are welcome to get out and join their campers in their cabins, however, the driver of the vehicle must remain in the vehicle to continue on to the parking lot.
Once in the designated unloading area, Camp OTX staff will unload camper luggage from your car and assist your camper and their luggage to their cabin. Please make sure your luggage is labeled with the camper’s first and last name and is organized in the back of your vehicle for easy unloading. At this time, Camp OTX staff will direct the driver to continue on to the Health Center parking area.
For the safety of all of our campers, no food items or medications will be kept in the cabin or delivered to the cabin. Please reference your travel itinerary on your My OTX Dashboard for more details on what to pack.
After dropping off your luggage, you will be directed to our Health Center parking lot. If needed, you can meet one of our Camp Nurses in the Health Center to turn in EpiPens, inhalers, medicine prescribed within the last 7 days, and any other medications previously approved for Opening Day check in. No over the counter medications, vitamins, or supplements will be accepted on Opening Day. Remember, for everyone’s safety, no medications can be left in camper luggage or a camper’s possession. If you have sent medications to us in the mail and have received an email confirmation from our Med Team, you do not have to stop by the Health Center again. You are all set! Please reference your travel itinerary on your My OTX Dashboard for more details on medications.
Parents, you are welcome to accompany your camper throughout the entirety of the Opening Day process. You can help your camper get settled into their cabin, accompany them to the swim test, help them decide on morning activity schedule changes, and pick up any pre-orders from the Camp OTX store. Be sure to keep your camper’s swim suit easily accessible on Opening Day. The swim test is in the pool where your camper will be asked to swim the width of the pool and will be fitted for a life jacket, and will receive their swim band for the Waterpark checkin/checkout process throughout the session.
Parents, you are welcome to drop-off mail or care packages for your camper in the office. Please include your camper’s name, cabin number (available on Opening Day) and the day you choose for their mail to be delivered. Please note that all camper mail is delivered to the cabin daily after lunch. To prevent any misunderstandings, please read the list of items not allowed for delivery in our FAQ on our website. Restricted items will be confiscated and discarded. They will not be returned.
Campers will be given their Morning Activity schedule in their cabin on Opening Day. If your camper would like to make a schedule change, you are welcome to go to the Big House to request the change. Please note that campers will also have the opportunity on Monday morning prior to Morning Activities to make a schedule change. And, don’t forget, Stampede is our structured, free time in the afternoon when everything in camp is open, and campers are free to do whatever they choose for as long as they chose to do it!
Shop all the fun, new Camp OTX merchandise for Summer 2024 in the Camp OTX Store. You can shop in person on Opening Day, order in advance for pick up on Opening Day, or order items to be delivered to your camper in session. Choose from Special Event tees, water bottles, jewelry, hats, and more! Sending care packages in session is a fun way to let your camper know you are thinking of them!
