The overall responsibility of a Health Center Intern is to help facilitate the efficient and effective operation of the Camp OTX Health Center. There are two primary roles in which a member of the Health Center Administration Team serves: administration and camper care.

Daily Health Center Intern duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Basic administrative work such as data entry, answering phones, managing email.
  • Promotion of health and wellness (handwashing, sunscreen, hydration, and nutrition).
  • Coordination and organization of camper health forms.
  • Direct and indirect communication with camp families.
  • Assisting with and charting routine health checks.
  • Transporting meals for in patient campers/staff.
  • Assisting with allergy band management.
  • Assisting with food allergy lists and signage in store.
  • Assisting with prescription pickup from local pharmacies and assisting with management of prescription fees for campers and staff.
  • Assisting OTX Medical Team as appropriate.

Health Center Interns have the unique opportunity to shadow, work with, and learn from experienced, industry leading Medical Professionals (ER Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, and Registered Nurses), and can expect to learn valuable lessons in health care administration, customer service, time management, and business operations.

Health Center Interns work under the direction of full-time Camp OTX staff, and play a crucial role in the experience, ministry, and outreach of Camp OTX. All necessary training is provided.

Finally, all members of the Health Center Administration Team get to work in an exciting, kid-oriented Christian environment alongside other talented and passionate college students. The hours are long and the work is challenging, but the job is very rewarding!

Camp OTX can work with applicants and their schools to satisfy internships or other course study credit requirements.
